Jubilee - coming soon

I've had an album completed and mastered in the can for far longer than I wish to say. I've been too much of a perfectionist when it comes to finalizing the artwork, though. I mention it here as a commitment to actually publish it before physical albums go entirely the way of the dodo. I'm aiming for sometime this summer.

Jubilee features the virtuosity of Richard Gates (bass), Duke Levine (guitars), Larry Luddeke (piano, B-3), Dave Mattacks (drums), and many more. It also showcases the brilliant engineering and production skills of Tom Eaton. Here's a sample of what's soon to be released on Riverwide Records.

A lot of us songwriters and musicians, when we have kids for the first time, are inspired to make a children's album. This will be mine -- a collection of songs that either are, or at least to me have always sounded like, good songs for children and childhood. If nothing else, they are songs -- traditional and otherwise -- that I want my daughter to know. I recorded these at home, direct-to-stereo on a Sony PCM-D1, odd background noises and all, whenever my toddler daughter would take a nap. Here's an unmastered track to give you a taste of what's to come.

Dandelion Wine & A Bottle Of Iodine - tracking

I've recorded the basic tracks for an album of country blues-influenced songs. Once this COVID-19 thing clears out, I hope to resume work, adding overdubs and such. Here's a rough mix of one cut, though, that will probably remain a solo performance.
